LFCU Named One of the Best Places to Work

Lockheed Federal Credit Union (LFCU) believes it's the little and the big things that are important in making a great place to work. Recognizing those efforts, LFCU was recently ranked No. 1 in the medium-sized company category of the "California's Best Places to Work" program for 2007. This first-ever best workplace program exclusively for California employers was sponsored by Employers Group.

LFCU in the Community

At Lockheed Federal Credit Union, we believe in giving back to the communities in which we serve and operate. Whether it is through our community philanthropic efforts, community sponsorships or voluntary employee payroll contribution program, LFCU is committed to providing support to worthy causes.

LFCU Community Stars
Developed by LFCU employees, LFCU Community Stars was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation to provide support to local charities selected by LFCU employees through volunteerism and financial donations. LFCU employees are able to volunteer during their normal work hours and can make contributions to the chosen charities through LFCU Community Stars' Charitable Contribution Program via payroll deduction. Every year, LFCU Community Stars will select charities to support.

Volunteer Time Off Program
Established in 2008, LFCU's Volunteer Time Off Program allows employees to receive company paid time off to volunteer in the community. Each employee can volunteer during the work day a maximum of eight hours per year. Throughout the year, LFCU employees organize volunteer opportunities to support LFCU Community Stars' nonprofit partners. In 2008, LFCU will support these local charities through volunteer efforts: Burbank Temporaray Aid Center, Penny Lane, Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center and weSPARK Cancer Support Center.

LFCU employees showed their support of Burbank Temporary Aid Center on May 13 and 14 with its food drive and volunteer contributions. The credit union donated more than 75 volunteer work hours to BTAC to help stock and organize at least 30,000 food items.

Partner to Paint
On Thursday, March 27, more than 40 Lockheed Federal Credit Union employees volunteered their time to paint four portable classrooms at Bret Harte Elementary School in Burbank.

Burbank Unified School District employees helped select the location for the annual community project, which is less than one mile from the credit union's headquarters. Recently, the main school buildings were renovated, but the portable units were not and the contrast between the main buildings and the portables was striking. For this reason, these portable units were in desperate need of a coat of paint. The school's fourth- and fifth-graders returned from spring break to find that their classrooms had been freshly painted.

Player of the Week
LFCU recognizes outstanding student athletes in the William S. Hart School District each week in partnership with KHTS-AM. A $250 donation is delivered to the athlete's school athletics program.

Student of the Month
Each month, LFCU acknowledges an outstanding student in the William S. Hart School District. The student is selected based on overall performance - academic accomplishments, extra curricular activities, leadership, and other notable experiences, and receives a $250 scholarship.

Lee National Denim Day
Since 2002, LFCU employees have participated in this national fundraiser benefiting breast cancer prevention services. The program allows employees to wear denim to work in exchange for a $5 donation. LFCU will again participate in this event on October 3, 2008.
